Respecting Your Privacy
Montecito Bank & Trust recognizes that protection of your privacy and security of customer information are critical aspects of a banking relationship. We value the trust you have placed in us as your financial services provider, and your continued confidence is important to us. We are committed to protecting the security and integrity of customer information through internal procedures and technology. For example:
- We maintain internal policies and procedures in compliance with federal standards that provide for the proper physical and electronic security of customer information.
- We maintain and constantly refine electronic and technological security practices to ensure your information is safe from intrusion or alteration.
- We allow access to personal information about you only to our employees and agents who have a business reason to know such information.
- We require independent contractors and outside companies who work with us to adhere to strict standards to protect your privacy and safeguard your information.
- We do not sell or share customer information with unrelated companies so they can market their products or services to you.
- We have no affiliated or "sister" companies with which we share customer information.
Information We Collect
In the course of serving you through various means, we collect information about you to:
- Efficiently service your accounts and process your banking transactions;
- Protect your accounts from unauthorized access or identity theft; and
- Keep you informed about our financial services of interest to you.
We collect the following types of information when you conduct business with us, including business conducted through our Internet web site or online banking web pages:
- Information that is part of your account record, such as names, addresses (including e‑mail addresses), telephone numbers and social security numbers associated with your account;
- Information you provide to us in applications, such as your income, assets, accounts with others, and tax returns;
- Information about your transactions with us or with others, such as account balances, transaction details, and frequency of account usage; and
- Information we receive from credit bureaus and other similar companies, such as your creditworthiness and payment history.
If you use our online banking services, you may change your e-mail address, password or account nickname within the online banking web pages.
Information We Share
We share your personal financial information only as permitted by applicable federal and state privacy laws and regulations. We may share the information we collect with third parties, such as:
- Companies that perform support services for us or act on our behalf, such as data processors, technical systems providers, auditors, online banking servicers, loan servicers, check printers, or other companies that help us deliver products and services to you. All companies that act on our behalf are contractually obligated to keep the information we provide them confidential and secure, and to use the information we share only to provide services we have requested.
- Companies that perform marketing services on our behalf, but we do not share or sell such information for other purposes, including use by third parties so that they can market their products or services to you.
- Persons or entities to whom you have authorized us to provide information.
- Credit bureaus or other consumer reporting agencies.
- Government or law enforcement agencies, to comply with federal or state reporting requirements, to comply with a properly authorized civil or criminal investigation or subpoena, or in connection with administrative or judicial process.
This customer privacy policy became effective July 1, 2005. You will be notified of any changes to this policy by mail. Changes to this policy also will be promptly posted on our Internet web site. This policy applies to our existing and former customers and only to individuals who obtain a financial product or service from us primarily for personal, family or household purposes.
